Type Like Mad

I got lost in blogosphere today and ended up at this site. Just for fun (and some really good keyboarding practice) check it out and see what level you can reach. There are some really different words in this game. Pick one and include it in your comment along with a definition. Also, include the level you reached in the game. Then I'll let you know what level I reached. Could be a good competition! Also, here's the rest of the "Games for the Brain" list. Who says that computer games aren't educational!!!

I played the typing game and I got to level 4. One of the words that i was not very sure about was copulative. Compulative-serving to unite or couple. When you use it in a sentenve you use it as follows; a. involving or consisting of connected words or clauses: a copulative sentence.
b. pertaining to or serving as a copula; serving to connect subject and complement: a copulative verb.
c. serving to connect nouns, noun phrases, verbs, clauses, etc.: a copulative conjunction.
d. of the dvandva type: Bittersweet is a copulative compound. ~ashley~

That was so fun. I am going to have a great time doing it when I am bored. The level I got to was 5. Which made me proud of myself. The word if found was spoonerism. Here is the definition. spoon·er·ism (spū'nə-rĭz'əm)
n.
A transposition of sounds of two or more words, especially a ludicrous one, such as Let me sew you to your sheet for Let me show you to your seat.

Hahah Mrs. Spear!!
I loved the game :) I had alots of fun. Im definately going to play again. But anyway I got on level 4 and I found a word that I had no idea what it was and alot of other words. But my word was Episcopacy, it means a system of church goverenment in which bishops are the chief clerics.
I was actually suprized cause I didnt think it would have mean't anything like that. But look we always learn something new everyday:)

Wow! I finally hit on something in my post that got everyone excited. Should have known that a competitive game would do that. I like the word choices I've seen so far. I partake in spoonerism a lot without even trying, and it's usually in front of my class. Sometimes very funny, sometimes very embarrassing.

The word episcopacy in that form was unfamiliar to me. However, if you take the word apart and think of other words like it, it may help you to have a better understanding. For example, the word Episcopalian means a member of the Episcopal church.

Good job so far . . . keep working on those speeds, brain games, and becoming familiar with new words!

I didn't realize how addictive this game would be. The first couple of times I played I only made it to level four, but finally, I got to level five. One word that really caught my attention was euthanasia. I thought, by the sound of it, this word would have been more of a fairy-tale-ish word, but it's meaning is far from a happy ending. It means, the act or practice of ending the life of an individual suffering from a terminal illness or incurable condition, as by lethal injection or the suspension of extraordinary medical treatment.

I reached level 3 on the speed typing game. The word I missed was apophthegm. Here's the meaning: A terse, witty, instructive saying; a maxim.

Have fun pronouncing that word! Here's the phonetic pronunciation: a-pa-them. Good word. And believe it or not, I came across a blog with that word in its title at ttp://matvm.blogspot.com/2006/01/blog-introduction.html

Here's an terse, witty, instructive saying by Donald Trump . . . "You have to think anyway, so why not think big?"

Thanks, Beth!

Okay, I finally took some time to really try out the Speed Typing game. I made it to level 5 in one of my five attempts. It really is challenging. You have to be totally focused!
