Let's Give 'em Something to Blog About

One of the uses of a web log is to post opinions. After all, a blog is an open forum to air whatever floats your boat or bothers you. So here's a couple of hot topics that you may or may not have an opinion about. Feel free to comment on any or all. And as with any debatable subject, state your case, give some reasoning, try to persuade!

American Idol--Voting for the worst singer
Stop Using Oil--Americans should boycott oil usage
Cell Phones in School--Good or bad?
War in Iraq--Stay or get out?
Health Care--Too many people without, costs are outrageous
Illegal Immigrants--What to do?

Oh my, cell phones in school, thats a topic you can get me started on.

I would have to say having this in school in a bad idea. If students are allowed to have them during school hours who says they are going to listen to you? They will be too busy with their eyes glued to the screen of their cellphones. A students education is more important than having their cell phones in their pocket or purse.

I found two issues here that I could easily debate. Cell phones in school are a bad idea. There is a time and place for everything; a saying everyone has heard a few times. I find people messing around with their cell phone when a teacher is teaching more than once a day. Cell phones should always be turned off or not there period. There is no good that comes from them at all and they are a complete overall distraction. If someone needs to use a phone for an emergency there are always school phones available. The second topic is the war in Iraq. The opinion I have is that we should get out, I am quite passionate about that. We have been there for about five years and have not accomplished what we came there to do. We overthrew a dictator but we know of at least twenty more in other countries. There are still weapons of mass destruction to be found, which is the reason we are over there in the first place. The real weapon is the war itself. It has taken away countless lives and is a problem that needs to be solved. The house has already developed a legislation to pull troops out that has been passed but the President has clearly stated he will vetoe it when it gets to his desk. The chance of it being passed afterward is slim to none. Something needs to be done or the result will be devastating.

Well I honestly think that cell phones should only be allowed if they are needed. But then again alot of people might take advantage of that. So im not sure how that would work. But I know if that were allowed I would only use it when needed.

I really think we should get out of the war in Iraq. We've been in this war for 5 years now and haven't accomplished anything really. It just seems as if we're over there for no reason now. We are spending billions of dollars in this war that millions of Americans don't agree with. I just think we should get out of it as soon as we can.
